Bootcap®, the purpose-built ski boot insulation accessory that keeps skiers’ feet up to 20 degrees warmer without batteries or electronics, is proud to welcome the freeride skiing phenom, Kai Jones, to its growing athlete roster.
Jones, age 19, has built his career in the Tetons, where he grew up charging big, technical terrain and filming with Teton Gravity Research. Going pro at 12, he quickly grabbed the ski world’s attention with his breakout moment in Far Out, hitting some of Jackson Hole’s most iconic lines at just 11 years old. Since then, Jones has only pushed harder. He doubled down on his presence in the freeride scene with segments in TGR’s Stoke the Fire and the 2024 documentary Falling Into Place, which follows his major 2023 injury and the long, gritty path back to snow.
His newest edit with TGR and Red Bull, Origin, makes it clear he is not just back but moving into his strongest chapter yet. In 2026, Jones turns the page again as he is set to compete in the first ever FIS Freeride World Championships in Ordino Arcalís, Andorra, bringing his trademark power and creativity to competition.
“My days in the mountains are often long and in all conditions, from sled missions to touring to filming. Bootcap fits right into that rhythm,” says Jones. “They keep my feet warm with no extra steps, and having gear I can count on lets me stay fully locked in on my skiing without compromising the feel and performance of my boots.”
“We’re really hyped to bring Kai into the Bootcap family,” says Todd Ligare, Bootcap Athlete Manager. “Kai’s been killing it for years and has emerged as one of the best in the game. We’re psyched to be on this journey with him and look forward to developing some killer product together.”
