Hurley veteran Evan Slater has moved into a big new role at Billabong.

Evan is the new VP of Global Marketing, replacing Scott Hargreaves, who moved to the WSL. Evan started his new job Monday.

Evan moves to Billabong after 10 years at Hurley, where he served as GM of Brand Marketing and, most recently, Senior Director of Brand Communications. He came from the media world, having worked as Editor in Chief of Surfing Magazine.

He will report to Billabong President Shannan North, who is very well regarded by the people who work for him.

Evan joins another former Hurley vet on the Billabong leadership team: Mark Weber, who is Billabong’s Global VP of Men’s Merchandising and Design.

“I’m very grateful for my last decade at Hurley and especially grateful for Bob Hurley, who will always be a mentor, inspiration and friend,” Evan told SES. “At the same time, I’m incredibly excited to join the Billabong crew. It’s an amazing brand made up of amazing people and I can’t wait to dive in and help create a better future for surfing.”

Shannan added: “We are really excited to have Evan join Billabong in such an important global leadership role.  Evan’s extensive industry experience and passion for surfing will help us realize our vision for the brand.”
