DC Shoes’ snowboarding division is set for a pop art takeover with the launch next week of a collaboration with the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts Inc.
“We are honored to extend Andy Warhol’s remarkable legacy through this unique collaboration,” DC Shoes Head of Global Marketing Michael Minter said. “Warhol’s spirit aligns perfectly with our brand’s ethos of pushing boundaries and embracing originality.”
The collection is made up of three themed capsules, called “In Bloom,” “Fragile,” and “Saint & Sinners.”
It totals 23 SKUS and ranges from $29 for neck gaitors to $500 for snowboards. Pants and jackets retail from $199 to $299, beanies are $32, and mittens are $50.
The collaboration continues an earlier partnership between DC and the Foundation released in April, called “Collisions.” That release was also comprised of separately themed capsules and included an assortment of slip-ons, slides, high-tops, T-shirts, hats, and hoodies.
The collaboration is a licensing deal that helps fund the Foundation’s endowment, which to date has given over $280 million in grants to more than 1,000 organizations dedicated to the arts.
“The Andy Warhol Foundation is delighted to collaborate with DC Snowboarding on this unique project which celebrates Warhol’s enduring non-conformist spirit,” said Michael Dayton Hermann, director of licensing, marketing, and sales at the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts.
The snow collaboration launches Oct. 11 and will be sold in DC’s online shop, in addition to some of the brand’s retail partners.
