“This year our company celebrates the 35th year of our Christmas shirt, we are so grateful to have teamed with Make-A-Wish Hawaii 5 years ago as we celebrated our 30th Christmas Shirt. We would not be celebrating our 5th year doing this event without the help of our corporate partners – FedEx, Hawaiian Airlines, Mariposa, Microsoft, PacRim Packaging, Simplicity HR, Russell Stover Chocolates and Matson.” said Lei Rowan, Reyn Spooner Marketing Director. “What better way to give back this Holiday Season than by granting the wishes of our Island keiki who are going through some tough times.”
This year’s holiday event is themed “Evening of Hawaiian Wishes”, inspired by Reyn Spooner’s 2017 Christmas shirt, featuring Santa Claus celebrating a Hawaiian Christmas. For over 30 years, Reyn Spooner has celebrated the joy of the Christmas by creating a limited edition, Hawaiian Christmas collection that reflects and captures the spirit of the island lifestyle and holiday traditions. The limited edition, Hawaiian Christmas shirts have become cherished pieces of history that are collected and worn around the world.
The Evening of Hawaiian Wishes event this year will feature a few of Hawaii’s favorite local entertainers including: Izik & Ekona, Eden Kai, Usaburo Mendenhall & Jon Yamasato and more. Mariposa will be preparing delicious food, while Young’s Market’s very own mixologist, Joey Gottesman will be creating signature, island inspired cocktails. The evenings emcee will be Hawaii’s own Howard Dashefsky. The silent Auction will include Reyn Spooner Limited Edition items, A Meet & Greet for two with Marcus Mariota, Sail for 6 on Holokino, Catherine Michiels Jewelry, Pierre Marcolini Chocolates, Big Island Volcano wines, gift certificates and more. Health professionals, including doctors and nurses, who treat kids that have been granted a wish are firm believers that the experience of a wish can influence their overall wellbeing, as well as, empower these children to take back control of their lives and to battle their life-threatening medical condition. Make-A-Wish has become one of the world’s largest charities and continues to grow, because of the generosity of local businesses and individual donors. Wishes are 100% privately funded and more than 400 volunteers across all of the islands help to deliver the Make-A-Wish mission with the spirit of Aloha. All proceeds raised in Hawaii will directly benefit local children battling life-threatening illnesses. Please join us for an exciting evening in support of a great cause.
About Make-A-Wish:
In 1982, Make-A-Wish® Hawaii was born when local insurance executive Jack Stanford incorporated the organization as the 13th chapter of the national foundation. A chapter that was truly built on the spirit of Aloha, was initially founded to help host the wishes of visiting wish children. Today, the organization is dedicated to granting the wishes of children in Hawaii while maintaining the roots of sharing Aloha with more than 1,000 visiting wish kids each year. The vision of Make-A-Wish Hawaii is to grant the wish of every eligible child in the state and to ensure that eligible keiki receive the life-affirming gift of a wish.
