ÛS, a collective of artists, designers, riders and makers with a shared love for the outdoors, launches their debut eyewear collection today through Kickstarter. Starting with using the most eco-friendly materials available, ÛS is out to prove that a planet-first philosophy belongs at the core of every business.
“We are a new eyewear company with a different view on things. From the products we make to the way we do business, we think differently,” said Olivier Dedieu. “Our belief is that when it comes to business, if you’re not working with Mother Nature, you’re working against Her.”
ÛS frames are made exclusively with injected-molded RILSAN® CLEAR which utilizes 65% bio-based raw materials, reducing dependence on petroleum-based plastics and overall CO2 emissions. Castor seed oil is polymerized into a high performance resin that’s incredibly lightweight, flexible, yet tough, and BPA free.
All of the ÛS styles are offered in category 3, 100% UVA/UVB, and polarized or traditional versions. The four men’s and three women’s Italian-made styles feature an uncompromising commitment to quality and flair for style, packaged in a simple, recycled paper envelope and reusable, organic cotton bag.
The ÛS team is helmed by an avid surfer, Olivier Dedieu, who brings more than 20 years of experience. He started his career at Arnette, and was the EMEA General Manager for Electric (part of Kering) for a dozen years before starting this project. Olivier teamed up with DAZ-HUB agency to build the ÛS marketing strategy. DAZ-HUB is a consulting agency founded by Nicolas Dazet, who recently left his post as Head of Global Marketing for Quiksilver. ÛS will unveil its ambassador program by the end of the year.
