The always-generous Vans decided to share its digital expertise with its retail partners earlier this month by hosting its first ever Vans Digital Summit.

About 30 people representing 15 retail partners attended the meeting at Vans headquarters in Cypress, Calif.

We viewed this as an opportunity to share Vans’ expertise across all digital platforms with our top board sports accounts,” said Ryan Clasen, Senior Director of Sales for Core & Lifestyle.  “Our ultimate goal was to leverage our digital knowledge to better serve the broader business.  At Vans, we value our retail partners.  It’s one of our core beliefs.”

Vans employees shared their expertise, including:

  • Lindsey Scheftic who provided an overview of the social media landscape and consumer insights around Millennials and Generation Z.
  • Amanda Rae Stephens who discussed Vans’ best practices across top social platforms including Instagram, Twitter, Tumbler and Facebook, and how to best interact with followers
  • James Munzer who covered the endemic actions sports media landscape and the role social media has played in evolving the medium.

Guest speakers from Instagram and Google also provided insights.

Retailers who took part in the summit included Jack’s, Active Ride Shop, Swell, Sun Diego, Surfride, Blends, South Coast, Hansen’s, Thalia and more.

Vans is hoping to turn the Digital Summit into an annual event.
