A top Quiksilver executive in Europe is departing the company to start his own business.

Juan Gonzalez-Vega has worked for Quiksilver for 13 years, most recently as Head of Europe.

Juan is becoming involved with a brand he is familiar with: the underwear brand Moskova, previously owned by Quiksilver.

He is also launching a consultancy company to help American brands establish and develop their business in Europe.

He started his tenure at Quiksilver in California as General Manager of the QS/RX Technical Division, then held various roles in sales management under Tom Holbrook. He eventually became SVP of Business Development in the corporate department.

He moved back to Europe to run DC Shoes in the region. After that, he became SVP/GM Wholesale Europe for all three brands. When Pierre Agnes became CEO, Juan took on Pierre’s former role as head of Europe.

Prior to joining Quiksilver, he had a varied career that included a stint on Wall Street as a trader and as a media executive in Europe.

Juan said Pierre and the new Oaktree crew have been very supportive and it was a tough decision to leave. But he felt the time was right to start something new.
