Sioeye™ Inc., a new company with world-class manufacturing partners and strong connections to the mobile phone industry, today announced that it is on schedule for a March 1 launch of the world’s first unlocked 4G LTE live-streaming action camera.
The mission of Sioeye, which has procured $4 million in startup funding, is to become the personal “live film crew” company of action sports enthusiasts. Its name is an acronym of the phrase, “streaming internet of everything you experience” and its debut product is the Sioeye Iris4G™, a wearable smart camera that broadcasts live video through 4G LTE mobile networks in real time. Sioeye is planning to introduce additional live streaming devices and a full complement of related accessories in the coming months.
“We saw a need for a high-quality action camera that changed the way people share their experiences,” said David Abramowski, Sioeye’s General Manager. “People yearn to connect with each other and share real life adventures in the real moment, yet everything on social media is carefully composed and edited days or weeks later. The Sioeye Iris4G has one-touch broadcasting, so people can share their adventures, the raw emotion and the excitement right as it unfolds.”
The Sioeye Iris4G, which functions with the simplicity of a self-contained smartphone, instantly connects friends, family, and fans to whatever action is being filmed. It’s the first complete solution – a connected device, a cloud-based live streaming service and interactive mobile applications – that simplifies live point-of-view video streaming down to the push of a button.
Sioeye announced its compact, connected, and feature-rich Android smart-camera in November 2015, and has been accepting pre-orders for the Sioeye Iris4G via its website for four months. MSRP is $499 USD. The company reports it is on schedule for the promised March 1 ship date, and that response to the Sioeye Iris4G has exceeded expectations.
“What’s revolutionary about the Sioeye Iris4G is that it connects directly to the internet and the Sioeye Cloud™ without the need for a tethered smartphone,” explained Abramowski. “It’s a compact, self-contained unit that requires no ‘MacGyver’-ing. It broadcasts in real time, with speed and altitude dashboards that give viewers a true and exciting look at the athlete’s experience.”
Sioeye Iris4G’s high-quality video broadcasts can be viewed through a link sent out automatically on a users’ Twitter and Facebook accounts or through the free Sioeye mobile app that pushes notifications to followers, stores and replays footage, and provides a forum for users, families, and friends to interact.
Sioeye Iris4G users have the freedom to select their own 4G LTE data network on the unlocked devices. Currently Sioeye supports the top 4G LTE networks in the USA.
Knowing that its product has special appeal with athletes and sports enthusiasts, Sioeye has partnered with SOAR Communications, a public relations agency focused on the sports, outdoor, athletics and recreation industries, to launch the Sioeye Iris4G. SOAR will handle Sioeye’s trade and consumer media outreach efforts in North America.
“Sioeye is taking action sports filming to a groundbreaking new level,” said SOAR principal Chip Smith. “We’ve all recorded great footage of our activities, but downloading, editing, and posting videos is really time-consuming and most of us never do it. The Sioeye Iris4G broadcasts live with the push of a button. No more fun video just sitting on SD cards never seeing the light of social media.”
