• Despite consumer confidence (103) and employment trends continuing to improve (5.1% unemployment), increased competition is causing retail and apparel sales to fall short of expectations.
• Performance and Diversified-Large Cap Apparel, Accessories & Footwear (“AAF”) companies continue their strong year, outperforming the S&P 500, as consumers focus on active/healthy lifestyle and lifestyle brands.
• There has been a slight decreases in valuations due to uncertainty and volatility in international markets, but AFF companies continue to trade at a premium to the S&P 500 on a EV/EBITDA basis.
• Increased competition for sellers, low cost of capital, and abundant dry powder are continuing to keep acquisition valuation levels high.
