Soft women’s sales at industry customer The Buckle contributed to a 3.8% same-store sales decline in April.
The Buckle, like other retailers, was also hurt by the Easter shift this year.
Total women’s sales declined 3% in April, with only one category – woven tops – reporting an increase.
Women’s sales accounted for 57% of total sales in April.
On the men’s side of the store, total sales rose 1.5%. Casual bottoms, shorts and accessories all posted increases.
Men’s sales accounted for 43% of total sales for the month.
In men’s and women’s combined, accessories sales fell 3% and footwear sales dropped 7%.
The Buckle currently operates 463 stores.
