Artist, photographer, filmmaker and creator of SURFER magazine, John Severson, will be signing copies of his new book, entitled Surf, at Surfing Heritage and Culture Center (SHACC) on Thursday, September 25, from 6-9pm. The evening will showcase Severson’s personal odyssey through painting, photography, film and publishing.
Â
Surf recalls the birth of surf culture and serves as a testament to our devotion to the ocean. The book is 212 pages long and features over 300 illustrations, plus a foreword by Gerry Lopez, and an afterword by Drew Kampion, author and former editor of Surfer and Surfing magazines.
Â
SHACC will be displaying some of Severson’s artwork, including paintings, photo blow-ups and surf posters, which will be available for purchase. No host Primo Beer and Longboard Vineyards Wine will be available along with appetizers from Wahoo’s, plus raffle tickets for a chance to win a custom handplane, courtesy of Enjoy Handplanes.
