This week kicks off the 2014 Stokes Me fundraising initiative, and 76 retail doors have launched the StokesMe add-a-buck initiative, asking customers to add a dollar to their purchase in support of 12 surf-related humanitarian organizations. In addition to the add-a-buck program, multiple events will be held during September that will benefit StokesMe, including the StokesMe Bowl-A-Rama and Rip Curl Team Signing and Mega Raffle. The funds raised will go to the 2014 SIMA Humanitarian Fund beneficiaries.
The best surf industry retail stores in the country were hand-selected to participate in StokesMe by the SIMA Humanitarian Fund Board of Directors. This year, 23 retailers are implementing the initiative in 76 separate doors – a record high for the campaign.
Participating retailers include: BC Surf & Sport, BC Surf Shop, Coastal Edge, Curl by Sammy Duvall, Emerald City, Farias Surf & Sport, Hansen’s Surfboards, Huntington Surf & Sport, Jack’s Surfboards, Killer Dana, Maui Nix, Noll Surfboards, Rip Curl Retail, Rusty Del Mar Surf Shop, Spyder Surf, South Coast Surf Shop, Sun Diego, Surf Diva, Surf N Sea, Surf Ride, Surfside Sports, WRV, and ZJ Boarding. The StokesMe Bowl-A-Rama will be held September 16th, during the week of the Hurley Pro and is supported by ASP. This initiative promises to be a fun way for industry brands and athletes to support StokesMe. The night will feature brands, retailers, pro surfers, and StokesMe beneficiaries bowling competitively in the name of charity. The inaugural event is sold out with more than 20 teams competing for the title of 2014 StokesMe Bowl-A-Rama Champions.
Also to support StokesMe, Rip Curl will host a Team Signing and Mega Raffle Saturday, September 13th at the San Clemente Rip Curl Outlet store. In addition to meeting the WCT Mens and Womens teams, those who come can enjoy free tacos, Rip Curl giveaways, and a Mega Raffle with the chance to win a custom Rip Curl wetsuit. All proceeds from the Mega Raffle will benefit StokesMe.
