Screen printing customers can save a lot of time and money by providing their print vendors with a good print matrix. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen the initial sample process come to a grinding halt because the sample machine operator doesn’t have all the information he needs to get the job done right the first time.
A good print matrix should include clear answers to all the questions that might come up during the separation and sampling process. Should the art print the same size on all garment sizes? What blank colors will this be printed on, and what are the ink colors on each of the garment colors? Are there any specialty inks, and if so, where exactly are they? Are you more concerned with achieving a soft hand feel or is ink color and brightness more important? What is the exact print placement on each size blank?
If you can provide a good print matrix with answers to all these questions, then the process of getting your goods sampled will run much more smoothly, and the chances of your printer meeting tight deadlines will be far more realistic. Provide a good print matrix with each job, and you’ll help your printer to help you.
