In a recent blog post, Taylor Digital discusses the resurgence of a parallax scrolling -a design technique which creates movement by scrolling background images at a slower rate than those in the foreground – frequently used in video games in the ‘80s and ‘90s.  Taylor Digital reviews the pros and cons of incorporating this fluid design form.

According to the post, “Parallax scrolling invites the user into the story of the site by creating depth and movement. …This movement and these images are powerful when chosen and designed correctly, as it can tell the story of your brand in a unique way.  It also offers something different than the average site, and will land your brand on the forefront of design trends.”

Taylor invites readers to sign up for the company’s newsletter (bottom left-hand of the page) to see an exclusive screencast of some great examples of parallax design.

Taylor is quick to point out, however, that with its high reliance on images and graphics, “Not all websites work with a parallax design.”

The post goes on to discuss the types of websites that may benefit from this trend.
