2012 Rip Curl GromSearch Presented by H2O Overdrive is Set to Commence
at 9th St. Huntington Beach
Costa Mesa, CA (June 7, 2012): Look out Huntington Beach the groms are coming! This weekend June 9th and 10th, the 2012 Rip Curl GromSearch presented by H2O Overdrive is returning once again. Huntington Beach at 9th Street is the first qualifying regional event of the series and it has reached maximum capacity with a GromSearch record 168 competitors!
This year a stacked field of groms are looking to qualify for a coveted spot in the RCGS National Finals held November 17th for a first time at Upper Trestles, CA. 2011 defending champion Kanoa Igarashi leads the charge of hopefuls, while 2010 champ Colin Moran, Taylor Clark, and Kalani David are also notable contenders.
The swell forecast indicates a chest-high combo swell delivering rippable peaks for the frothing grommets to tear apart. Sunny skies and 70-degree weather are sure to bring a summer vibe to the event.
This year the four finalists from each division, 16 & under boys, 16 & under girls, 14 & under boys, and 12 & under boys, will each be invited to compete in the National Finals.
The 16 & under boys and girls National champions will then win an all expense paid trip to compete in the International finals held in conjunction with the Rip Curl Pro Bells Beach 2013.
