The unfiltered snowboard odyssey two years in the making will stream for free on Red Bull TV on Nov. 7.
Published: September 19, 2025 Press Release

Burton Snowboards, in partnership with Red Bull Media House, is dropping PAVED, a full-length, unfiltered snowboard odyssey two years in the making following the Burton Team riders as they push backcountry snowboard progression at the highest level. Premiering October 8 in New York City before a global tour, the film captures the camaraderie, style, and raw energy of some of the current era’s most influential riders. Fans worldwide can stream the full movie free beginning November 7 on Red Bull TV.

PAVED is Burton’s most ambitious film in years—a snapshot of this generation’s contribution to the legacy of backcountry freestyle snowboarding. Opening with a nod to the brand’s roots, the story drops straight into Alaska, where veterans Mark McMorris and Danny Davis ride alongside all-terrain icons Mikkel Bang, Ben Ferguson, and Brock Crouch. From there, the journey expands across Japan’s deep powder, the wilds of British Columbia, Tahoe, and beyond.

From high-stakes heli-drops to hand-built booters, the riding hits snowboarding’s highest level, but the tone stays loose, light, and occasionally ridiculous. Guided by a narrator with a dry wink, PAVED drifts between heavy sessions and off-hand moments, where the mountains shape the mood and the riders’ voices reveal what’s really on their minds. Each destination adds a new layer to the story, revealing the personalities and dynamics that drive the crew.

At its core, PAVED is part history lesson, part hangout, part backcountry odyssey. Raw and wry, cinematic yet lighthearted, it’s packed with progression and heavy tricks—but what endures is the culture and collective spirit: this crew, these moments, and proof that style means nothing without soul.

A Burton and Red Bull Media House Co-Production directed by Ian Durkin and produced by Pirate Movie Productions, PAVED blends mixed media, photography, and illustration into an unfiltered portrait of snowboarding at its purest—stories of resilience, first-time debuts, and progression on some of the most breathtaking terrain on Earth, plus unreleased footage of Burton’s upcoming winter collection.

THE CAST

The PAVED crew is stacked: Three time Olympic medalist Mark McMorris, creative wizard Zeb Powell, backcountry powerhouse Ben Ferguson, Olympic gold medalist and backcountry pioneer Zoi Sadowski-Synnott, two-time Olympic gold medalist Anna Gasser, next generation backcountry riders Brock Crouch, Ylfa Rúnarsdóttir, and Takeru Otsuka, backcountry icons Danny Davis and Mikkel Bang and heavy cameos featuring Burton team riders Maria Thomsen, Mikey Ciccarelli, Mikey Rencz, and Raibu Katayama

Mark McMorris:“I wanted to do this film because growing up, team movies were what I looked forward to. They have a big impact on the community and industry as a whole. Burton and Red Bull have an incredibly unique team so I truly think it was a no brainer to get us all together for a film. One of the most memorable days was our first day filming of 2025. The most challenging part for me was trying to juggle the Olympic qualifying events as well as film trips. It kept me on my toes.”

Zeb Powell: “I wanted to film for this movie to learn new things like riding in the backcountry, put myself in new situations on my snowboard and learn from them. The most memorable moments would be learning to ride a snowmobile in the backcountry and learning how to turn proper in pow.”

Anna Gasser: “Every day I got to spend time riding pow and hitting jumps with the team was amazing. The most challenging part for me was definitely the snowmobiling. I struggled at first, but the guys were patient and also helped me to get unstuck, which I really appreciated. I was honored to have the opportunity to be part of the movie…Burton only does a project like this every so often. I just wish I could have spent more time with the crew and gathered more clips. Though, it was tough to fit filming into the competition schedule for me, and when I finally had time, the conditions weren’t always favorable. Still, I was very stoked on the few good days I had!”

Zoi Sadowski-Synnott: “Year one filming for Paved was challenging because I was coming back from an injury that just wasn’t getting any better. I was juggling ankle rehab, trying to get back to competing, and trying to show up to give everything I had in the backcountry. I learnt finding balance is so much easier said than done and I’m so grateful for the myriad of ways you can ride your snowboard because it keeps me sane. That said, sometimes it’s fun to tip the scales every now and again and go all in.”
