Abode Outside, the four-season eco-friendly apparel company from Minnesota, is proud to collaborate with the non-profit Save the Boundary Waters, donating proceeds from each of their top-selling Special Edition Boundary Waters hoodies sold.
With deep roots in Minnesota and a lifetime connection to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness, the family-owned, knitwear-focused Abode feels it is their responsibility to help support the wild places that connected them as a family and inspired the creation of an eco-conscious outdoor lifestyle apparel brand.
“From day one, our motivation for starting Abode Outside has been to use our clothing to push the industry toward a cleaner and healthier future, while connecting people to the outdoors through thoughtful, low impact clothing made with the best natural and recycled materials,” said Nathan Baller, Co-Founder of Abode Outside. “The Boundary Waters is where I fell in love with the outdoors and realized how essential nature is to overall well being. This partnership brings that story full circle.”
The Special Edition Boundary Waters Hoodie is designed collaboratively by the Abode Outside and Save the Boundary Waters teams. Made with recycled polyester and yarn derived from wood pulp, the hoodie balances outdoor performance, comfort, and reduced environmental impact. The hoodie features a built-in neck gaiter and thumbholes which, along with the hood, is designed to provide protection and comfort while recreating outdoors.
In 2025, the Boundary Waters Hoodie became one of Abode Outside’s most popular styles, ranking second in net sales across the entire product line and nearly doubling year over year sales. This performance highlights growing consumer demand for products that align environmental values with functional, thoughtfully designed apparel.
“The Boundary Waters is an iconic American landscape. This wild and beautiful place is also uniquely accessible, and is the most-visited Wilderness in the country,” said Samantha Chadwick, Associate Director with Save The Boundary Waters. “We love working with the team at Abode as they are an authentic brand, bringing a great deal of exposure and value to our mission. The Boundary Waters are under threat from copper mining and awareness is key to our success in keeping them pristine for generations.”
Since its founding, Abode Outside has donated 1 percent of every order, both direct to consumer and wholesale, to protect America’s wilderness. With the Special Edition Boundary Waters Hoodie, that contribution increases to 20 percent of sales. This creates a tangible way for everyone to participate in celebrating and protecting our favorite outdoor places.
The Special Edition Save the Boundary Waters hoody can be purchased on the Abode Outside website or at select retailers across the country.
