Why some teen retailers are outperforming the pack – it's not all about price

With all the bad retail news out there, it's easy to overlook the fact that some retailers are posting decent numbers despite the drop in consumer spending.

We decided to examine 2008 monthly same-store sales for nearly a dozen retailers who sell goods to teens and young adults. We charted the numbers, and separated the better performers from their competitors to discover why some are outperforming the market.  

Some themes emerged that help explain why a handful of retailers are bucking the larger downturn.
