Tourism in Hawaii, California and Florida slipped and 2009 forecasts are lower

<p>Tourist travel and spending in three key industry states slipped, and forecasts from Hawaii, California and Florida call for 2009 to be even lower.</p> <p>Economists in those states built their forecasts before the upbeat news today that U.S. consumer spending actually increased in January, after falling for six consecutive months. Spending was up .6 percent - slightly better than the forecast of .4 percent - according to the U.S. Commerce Dept.</p>
