The new consumer-protection law: View from inside a testing lab

In the second day of our series on the new consumer product safety rules and their impact on action sports brands, I talked to the operators of Applied Technical Services in Marietta, Georgia. It's one of the labs the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission lists on its web site as accredited for Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (CPSIA) testing for lead and other toxins.

That list, which includes labs around the world, continues to grow.

The labs are the front lines and help apparel and footwear makers and other businesses navigate requirements of CPSIA.
