What’s the biggest impact the recession has had on the industry this year, both with regard to business impact and the industry’s psyche?

I think the biggest single impact is that it has forced everyone to tighten up their buying (vendors as well as retailers), and pay a lot closer attention to what their real inventory needs are at any given time.
