David Wilhelm’s Culinary Adventure group is changing its Chat Noir restaurant across from South Coast Plaza to Savannah, modeled after its Savannah chop house concept in Laguna Niguel.
I’m trying to find out why they decided to make the change. Until then, here’s the release:
NEWPORT BEACH, CA — In step with the fast approaching Thanksgiving season where traditional American fare is center stage, David Wilhelm, president and CEO of Culinary Adventures, Inc. is proud to announce the unveiling of the second location for Savannah, his contemporary American restaurant concept. The newest Savannah occupies the current Chat Noir space at 655 Anton Blvd. in Costa Mesa, near the Orange County Performing Arts Center (OCPAC) and shopping mecca, South Coast Plaza.
“It continues to be an exciting time for Culinary Adventures, Inc. as we introduce the second Savannah into the marketplace,” remarked Wilhelm from his Newport Beach offices where Culinary Adventures, Inc. is headquartered. “Savannah has always been about the celebration of great regional American food, both traditional and contemporary. Our original Savannah in Laguna Niguel was embraced by the surrounding neighborhood since it opened and it’s been my plan to expand a second of our existing brands to strengthen our business model.”
The warmth and rich tones currently found in the restaurant space will prevail in the new Savannah location. The dining room layout will also stay the same; however accents will change to reflect the rich Americana theme and offer a more relaxed, club-like ambiance, similar to the original Savannah. The sexy ‘Moulin Rouge’ lounge remains untouched and will offer an enhanced line-up of live entertainment. “I’m excited about creating a venue for our guests to enjoy a real ‘Supper Club’ experience, similar to those that became popular around the country in decades past. Our guests can enjoy a relaxed dinner and then retire to the lounge to enjoy an after dinner drink, dessert, and listen to some great live entertainment.” The lounge will feature a ‘small plates’ menu, signature martinis, American craft beers and a large offering of wines by the glass.
Wilhelm and Corporate Chef, Ryan Adams, together have created a menu based upon the original Savannah fair that strives to feature American Artisanal, naturally raised, and sustainable food products. It will feature a variety of grilled Chops, Ribs, Seafood, and nightly Creole and ‘Surf & Turf’ offerings. Signature dishes include Zinfandel braised Short Ribs, Pecan and Applewood Smoked Prime Rib, Maple glazed Alaskan Salmon, ‘Old School’ Seafood Newburg and a hot Scharffen Berger Chocolate soufflé baked to order.
Corporate Wine Director Phil Roberson has put together a wine list to complement the American menu that features a carefully selected offering of boutique wine labels primarily from California and Oregon. Appetizer and salad prices range from $8 to $18: Steak, Chops, Ribs and Seafood Entrees range from $24 -48; Sides that serve two range from $4 to $8.
For Thanksgiving dinner, Savannah will be open from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. serving up traditional harvest turkey dinner, Wilhelm’s favorite meal of the year, and a great number of American delicacies and sides to celebrate the holiday. Reservations are available now and can be made by calling 714-557-6457
