Bob sent me an internal memo this morning that he sent out yesterday to the team at Hurley. He wanted to give some context to the executive moves at the company.
Here it is:
“As you may know, we have conducted an extensive President search for Roger’s replacement since he left to run Nike apparel 18 months ago. Frankly, I met a lot of really nice and talented folks but decided they would not be a good partner for our team. We set the bar really high. Well, we finally found someone………….. It is with great pleasure that we inform you that Mr. Roger will be returning to Hurley. Roger made a big impact at Nike, and is returning to Orange County to be closer with his kids.
Starting with Mark and Charlie, there is a complete belief in our efforts at Hurley and our collective abilities to be the best company in the Action Sports space. This is a huge vote of confidence in you as a team. We will continue to work closely with Sandy’s Nike SB/6.0 team to lead in the world of Action Sports. We have a great partner with a clear focus on the future, and we certainly have the opportunity to contribute on many levels.
It is going to be so exciting to work with Roger again, both personally and professionally because we naturally compliment each other. Roger will be coming in as CEO and President. I will be Chairman. My role will continue……(and actually accelerate) to be ACTIVELY focused around Brand, Product and the Hurley Community both internally and externally. Roger will be responsible for executing our brand vision while helping us to build an increasingly profitable, first quality business. We are both fully committed to growing a smart business, while continuing to enrich our culture and Community of Hurley. We passionately want this to be the best and funnest place to work.”
