French 75

David Wilhelm, owner of French 75 restaurants, Chat Noir, Sorrento Grill, Chimayo at the Beach and others is talking to different financial groups about buying a minority interest in the company in return for growth capital. I checked in with his company, Culinary Adventures, after hearing some financing changes may be in the works. The company has expanded in the past few years, opening French 75 locations in Irvine, Century City and Burbank.

John Martin, the former CEO of Taco Bell and chairman of Diedrich Coffee, is a financial partner in the business, so I wanted to see what that meant for him. Here’s what David had to say via email:

“One of the groups did talk about making a bigger investment and buying John’s position out but we opted not to pursue this.”
