Some news from my inbox, including a Roxy party tonight, South Coast Plaza’s Italian happenings, and Vans underthings.
Roxy party
The Roxy Studio Exhibition happens tonight at the Surf Gallery in Laguna Beach. Over 30 pieces of art will be on display and limited edition prints will be for sale. The party includes food and live music by the Pawnshop Kings. It’s open to the public.
Artists will include Jenny Bowers, Jeff Canham, Harry Daily, Julie Goldstein and more. Roxy Team riders Kassia Meador, Torah Bright, Jen Smith and Sarah Burke will also be on hand. Doors open at 5 p.m. Surf Gallery: 911 S. Coast Highway, Laguna Beach, CA 92651.
French 75
David Wilhelm, owner of French 75 restaurants, Chat Noir, Sorrento Grill, Chimayo at the Beach and others is talking to different financial groups about buying a minority interest in the company in return for growth capital. I checked in with his company, Culinary Adventures, after hearing some financing changes may be in the works. The company has expanded in the past few years, opening French 75 locations in Irvine, Century City and Burbank.
John Martin, the former CEO of Taco Bell and chairman of Diedrich Coffee, is a financial partner in the business, so I wanted to see what that meant for him. Here’s what David had to say via email:
“One of the groups did talk about making a bigger investment and buying John’s position out but we opted not to pursue this.”
