Journeys same-store sales rose 3 percent for the quarter ended May 2, parent company Genesco said this morning.
Journeys, an important mall retailer for many skate shoe brands, was one of the strongest performers for Genesco, which also owns the Hat World, Underground Station and Johnston & Murphy chains.
Genesco executives said in a press release that company sales were up in the first half of April, but that same-store sales were down 9 percent through May 25.
Overall, Genesco’s sale rose 4 percent to $370 million. Total company same-store sales rose 2 percent. Net income fell 7.8 percent to $3.5 million, excluding charges.
