Let the skate trade show wars begin.
ASR is partnering with professional skater Jamie Thomas to bring his skate-focused Crossroads show to a site adjacent to ASR on Feb. 3 and 4.
To keep the grassroots vibe, Crossroads will be held in the PETCO parking lot near the San Diego Convention Center.
The low cost, rootsy Crossroads show proved popular with many skate brands, which have felt marginalized at some larger, multi-sport trade shows. Previously, Crossroads was held in the parking lot of Black Box Distribution’s headquarters in Carlsbad.
The announcement comes on the heels of Agenda’s news last week that it has teamed with popular skate website The Berrics on a skate-focused area at the Agenda show in January in Huntington Beach.
Crossroads and ASR say they will bring 100 key retailers to the event.
Here’s their press release:
FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
February 3rd and 4th, 2010, San Diego, CA
Crossroads Retail Show
With the goal to better service exhibitors and retailers, Crossroads has teamed up with ASR to present the ultimate skate focused retail show.
The February 2010 show will be held on February 3rd and 4th in the PETCO parking lot adjacent from the San Diego convention center in downtown San Diego.
The layout and style of the event will be the same as previous shows yet the accessibility and convenience of the location and dates will guarantee higher attendance from retailers and distributors.
With the support of ASR, Crossroads is committed to making sure that 100 of the nation’s key retailers will be in attendance at the event.
As Crossroads remains a parking lot show, booth fees and set up regulations will be the same as previous shows and as always there will be free food, skateboarding and a best trick contest for all to enjoy.
