Over the past 15 years West 49 has been one of the biggest supporters of Canadian skateboarding talent through their Flow Team and the release of the “Flow DVDs”.
This year they have big plans to showcase just what Canada has to offer. West 49 kicks off 49 Days a video project that demonstrates the West 49 Flow Team’s skills like never before. Over the next year West 49 and the Flow Team will be filming to create Canada’s first HD all skate video project of this size.
The end result will be a series of four regional streaming montage videos that will be posted online regularly to make for Canada’s first HD skate film production.
Starting in March and through the spring, West 49 will be posting the clips they have collected from the West 49 Flow Team. Short 30-second “Bro-Cam” clips will be posted online with Flow Team riders skating their home spots, a panel that includes skate brand representatives, skate team managers, pros and amateurs will be viewing the clips as they are posted and begin a selection process that narrows down the field to the top skaters.
Following the selection process, over the next year West 49 will be hitting the road shooting as much footage as possible bringing it to www.49days.ca in the series of HD montages produced by Pasi “Big Man” Posti.
West 49 Team Manager and 49 Days Project Developer, Pasi Posti describes the video “as a way to make amateur skaters’ dreams a reality. It is every skater’s dream to be sponsored and a vehicle like this will provide them with unparalled exposure.
These skaters are the heartbeat of West 49, connecting the rest of the country to this elite group, and showcasing their talents through this production will take skateboarding to a new level in Canada.”
Giving these talented individuals the spotlight they need to showcase how great they really are, this project promises to make these rider’s dreams become a reality. With a release date for mid-summer for the first montage, the team is working hard to post daily blog updates and provide the skate community with an insiders view on the team and the progress to making dreams happen together.
Taking this project online only made sense given the direction of how West 49’s skateboarders receive and send their information. Since the site launched on March 19th more 10,000 unique visitors have viewed the site.
