Skateboarder-Owned Brand Backs Rob Dyrdek’s Creation of Street League
June 22, 2010 (Lake Forest, CA) – As the first skateboarder-owned and run footwear and apparel brand, etnies has been focused on skateboarders’ needs since 1986, and the brand is glad to support Rob Dyrdek’s creation of Street League. etnies’ team riders Mikey Taylor, Ryan Sheckler and Sean Malto are among the 24 pros invited to Street League to compete for the total series purse of $1.2 million – the most prize money in skateboarding history.
“No outsider has first-hand knowledge of what skateboarders need or want, and it only makes sense that a skateboarder would come in and enhance the experience of street skating contests,” said Jeff Taylor, etnies brand marketing manager. “Rightfully so, the biggest advances in skateboarding have always come from skateboarders.”
“I am proud to have Sean Malto, Mikey Taylor, and Ryan Sheckler sign to the league. From Ryan’s historical dominance in contests, Malto’s undeniable skill and style, and Mikey’s well-rounded skating, these guys are built for Street League Skateboarding and I am excited that they are a part of it,” says Rob Dyrdek.
Street League features the first revenue-share program in skateboarding, making each pro a participant in the success of Street League. Mikey, Sheckler and Malto will be skating in real skate plazas for skateboarding’s largest first place prize ever of $150,000 and the largest total purse in skateboarding history at these three 2010 Street League events:
August 28th at Jobing.com Arena in Glendale, Arizona
September 11th at Citizens Business Bank Arena in Ontario, California
September 25th at Thomas & Mack Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada
