Press Release:
Taj Burrow and Billabong have collaborated on a new premium line of clothing for the new season. The result had so much demand that it has shipped early to the top retailers.
“If I’m entirely honest, the idea of this collection was born out of my love of the tee-shirt,” say Taj. “I live and die by a good one.”
Taj has always liked something that is not too tight around the neck and has a perfect length as well; something that “doesn’t look like a frock and doesn’t look like a crop top,” as he puts it. Taj prefers his tees light and airy, so all the tees in his collection are made with bamboo cotton. They are designed for easy wear in the summer and easy layering in the winter.
The main focus of the tees and the thing he has put the most work into is the prints. “I’m really proud of what we’ve created,” he says. He particularly loves the print using Taj Mahal palace. That particular design was created to look like a skull and was the work of Sydney designer Shane Sakkkeus. “I was named after the singer Taj Mahal not the building,” he notes.
The rest of the collection consists of items that fit Taj’s casual but stylish character. There’s a couple of zip hoods, a jacquard jersey baggy pocket sports jacket, a classic long-sleeve, fine cotton white shirt, a denim Marle button-pocket fleece jacket, and a Japanese Salvage denim narrow straight leg jean.
“When we were approving the pieces, I would think: Could I put this on at 6:30 am and still be happy wearing it at midnight?” he says of the collection. “If the answer was yes, they’re all in here.”
