– Awards ceremony makes its new home at House of Blues San Diego on January 13, 2011
Press Release:
ALISO VIEJO, Calif. (September 20, 2010) – The Surf Industry Manufacturers Association (SIMA) is proud to announce the new venue and date for the next SIMA Image Awards ceremony, which will honor the best of the surf industry for 2010. The SIMA Image Awards ceremony will be held on Thursday, January 13, 2011 – the first night of the ASR trade show – at the House of Blues San Diego. This marks the first occasion of the awards ceremony coming stateside, following the announcement earlier this year that the awards were being moved out of their former home of San Jose Del Cabo, Mexico, during the annual Surf Summit conference.
“The SIMA Board of Directors is excited to bring the SIMA Image Awards stateside to San Diego, and especially during a time when our industry’s manufacturers, retailers and media will be together in the city for ASR,” said Doug Palladini, President of SIMA and Vice President of Marketing for Vans. “There are so many people involved with the products and brands nominated for SIMA Image Awards each year, from designers to sales reps, to marketing coordinators and retail shop staff. Our hope is that by bringing the SIMA Image Awards ceremony to a more accessible location that more people from more of our member brands and retail partners can be involved and join in the celebration of seeing the products they’ve worked countless hours on be honored in front of their peers and the media.”
SIMA will begin accepting entries for the SIMA Image Awards on September 27, 2010. All paid Regular and Board Builder category SIMA members will be invited to enter their brands and/or products at www.simaimageawards.com. The main SIMA contact at each paid Regular and Board Builder category SIMA member company will receive a username and password to access the secured entry form page where members can then easily submit entry materials for the SIMA Image Awards. The strict deadline for entries is October 22, 2010.
More information about the ceremony and how to access tickets will be available in the coming months. SIMA member brands and industry retail partners are encouraged to save the date, rally their teams and bring their cheering sections to what will be an exciting evening honoring excellence and innovation in the surf industry.
The goal of the SIMA Image Awards is to identify the surf industry’s most influential companies and recognize them for their efforts to advance and grow the industry over the past year. The SIMA Image Awards is the only awards program that gives SIMA members and surf specialty retailers the opportunity to recognize fellow surf industry companies for their outstanding contributions to the surf industry.
