Nine Star has closed its store in Mission Viejo at the Kaleidoscope shopping center and is focusing on its busier West Los Angeles store.

CEO Matthew Levenson told me today via email that he is looking for an alternative location in the south Orange County area, but has not settled on one yet.

He also shared why he decided to close and what they are doing with merchandise from the Mission Viejo store.

“We were profitable there, but decided that it wasn’t enough to justify the effort, energy and dollars tied up in inventory,” he said.

“We feel we are better off focusing on our much higher volume door in West LA for the short term. We worked out a cooperative end to the lease with the new owner of the Kaleidoscope and agreed to clear out our inventory in West LA instead of in Mission Viejo.”

Nine Star moved to an expanded location in Los Angeles earlier this year.
