Press Release:

Source Interlink Media’s Action Sports Group (ASG) / Grind Networks announced today that it has hired veteran action sports Publisher Jamey Stone as its Director of Marketing. Stone, who most recently was Publisher at Transworld Skateboarding magazine, starts effective immediately, according to ASG / Grind Networks SVP/Group Publisher Norb Garrett.

“We are thrilled to add someone of Jamey’s caliber to our team,” said Garrett. “His creativity, knowledge of the marketplace and success in marketing multi-media platforms fits perfectly with our ongoing efforts to create the leading action sports media business in the world.”

Stone will oversee and direct the group’s marketing initiatives and business development operations.

“Working for the ASG / Grind Networks is a huge honor,” said Stone, who grew up in Oceanside, Calif., surfing up to the professional level and skateboarding in the underground San Diego skate scene. He lives there still today with his wife and two children. “Growing up reading SURFER, SURFING and SkateBoarder, I never imagined that I would now be a part of this amazing family. I am very excited about all of the great things on deck for ASG / Grind Networks and look forward to adding to an already amazing legacy.”

The addition of Stone is the latest in a series of strategic moves Garrett has made since joining Source Interlink Media this past April. In October of this year, the ASG acquired Grind Networks and GrindTV.com, a leading online publishing company started by former Yahoo! staffers Erik Hawkins and Greg Morrow. Then in November, the group added key SIM off-road motorcycle properties including Dirt Rider and ATV Rider magazines, and the EnduroCross and MiniMoto event series. Additionally, the group has launched two new properties this year-Stand Up Paddler and Paved, both in print and online-which will expand to quarterly frequency as print magazines in 2011.

“Adding Jamey Stone to our stellar marketing group shows our commitment to the success of the entire ASG / Grind Networks brand and our continuing endeavors to build a top-notch team,” says SURFER and SURFING Publisher Tony Perez. “With his knowledge of the industry, he’ll hit the ground running and be able to guide his team through our continual growth.”
