WEST 49 “TAKE THE CAKE II” – CANADA’S LARGEST SKATEBOARD EVENT IS BACK BIGGER AND BETTER IN YEAR TWO
Following on the success of last year’s huge skateboard contest West 49 Take the Cake Presented by Schick Xtreme 3 and the Axe Twist Amateur Open held in Niagara Falls, Ontario, eventSing promotions inc. and West 49 are even more excited to announce Year Two of Take The Cake which will take place at Canada’s Wonderland in Vaughan, Ontario on August 19-20 2011.
In order to reach more fans of skateboarding while still capturing a unique “forum” for this amazing contest – Kingswood Music Theatre at Canada’s Wonderland, the country’s premier amusement park, and home to world class thrills, fun and family entertainment was selected as this year’s venue.
On Saturday, August 20th, 2011, West 49 Take The Cake will feature 13 of the world’s most influential and recognizable Street LeagueTM pro skaters throwing down their best tricks for a $100,000.00 CASH prize, Canada’s largest cash purse event in Canada.
Last year’s event included some high caliber riders including Paul Rodriguez “P-Rod” (Plan B), Chaz Ortiz (Zoo York), Torey Pudwill (DVS) and Sierra Fellers (C1RCA), all who were excited to participate in such a well-produced high profile event.
2011’s list of competitors will be no different since West 49 Take The Cake is a Street League SkateboardingTM sanctioned event which allows some of the top pros to participate in this event which is a major acknowledgement for this contest.
Founded by twenty-year professional skateboarder and entrepreneur, Rob Dyrdek, Street League Skateboarding was established in 2010 and is skateboardings very own professional league with twenty-four of the world’s biggest skateboarding stars signed to multi-year contracts that compete in Street LeagueTM events exclusively.
Managed by eventSing promotions inc. that have more than a decade experience in packaging and producing national action sports events. The West 49 Take The Cake event will be the standout skateboard event of the year, a must attend on anyone’s calendar of events. An amateur qualifying contest on the Friday will give one skater the pass to ride with the world’s best in Saturday’s final feature.
Expanding on this portion of the AM event four national qualifier events will be held in Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Halifax in June and July 2011 with the winner of each of these events being flown to Take The Cake in August – broadening on the national talent pool for participation.
The excitement begins on Friday, August 19th with an amateur contest and a large welcome party for VIP and invited skaters.
The event space will be filled with action sports retailers and manufacturers featuring interactive games a public skate park and can host up to 17,000 fans through the two-day event. On average Canada’s Wonderland welcomes 30,000 guests on Saturday’s throughout the summer.
