Press Release:

LOS ANGELES – April 11, 2011 – theFUZZco, an Artist Collective and Skateboarding Company, spearheads the kickFLIP Wheelchair Project for the non-profit, SuperCharged For MITO (SCFM). Inspiring MITO-kids in wheelchairs and igniting awareness for Children’s Hospital Los Angeles’ (CHLA) Center for Metabolic and Mitochondrial Disorders.

California Medical Pharmacy, HL2 Design, Art of Board, Russ Ward Auto Body Shop and Air Cabin Engineering, Inc. have teamed with theFUZZco to design and produce the kickFLIP Wheelchair.

The kickFLIP rolls out for CHLA’s 5K Walk for Kids on April 30, 2011. Zachary, who suffers from Mitochondrial Disease and is a patient of Dr. Richard Boles at CHLA, will take his first ride in the kickFLIP Wheelchair at the CHLA 5K Walk.

As SCFM celebrates the debut of the kickFLIP Wheelchair, CHLA celebrates the opening of their brand new, state of the art hospital.

The

kickFLIP Wheelchair is a customized and tricked-out wheelchair incorporating Art of Board’s mosaic tiled skateboard decks as foot rests, HL2 Design wheels, engineering by Air Cabin Engineering, Inc., detailing by Russ Ward Auto Body Shop and graphic design by theFUZZco.

California Medical Pharmacy donated the wheelchair that theFUZZco used for customization. Through the kickFLIP, theFUZZco will enhance the overall appearance and feel of the common wheelchair and raise spirits and awareness for MITO-Kids in need.

“We are very excited to see the completed kickFLIP Wheelchair and to have Zach’s first ride be at the CHLA 5K” said, Jennifer Haught, Zachary’s mother. “theFUZZco has seen this project through from when Zach’s old broken wheelchair was keeping us home. It is such an important project for MITO-Kids, and the kickFLIP will be the centerpiece to our push for awareness and funding for Mitochondrial Disease.” theFUZZco supports SCFM through project-based initiatives that will help raise awareness for CHLA and the Center for Metabolic and Mitochondrial Disorders.
