The folks at Reef threw a huge party Thursday night at corporate headquarters in Carlsbad, Calif. to celebrate the launch of their new Modern Gypsy brand campaign and to debut their Spring 2012 line to about 60 key retailers, as well as a few hundred guests who trickled in later that evening.
Besides an abundance of food and free flowing bubbly all opened with their signature Mick Fanning sandals (yes all bartenders had to use the sandals to open bottles), three bands played throughout the evening.
Reef’s office building has been remodeled with brand new graphics showcasing Reef’s new look. For the party, they threw up a stage right the middle of the marketing department.
Most of Reef’s top athletes were in attendance including Rob Machado, Taylor Knox, Mick Fanning, Alana Blanchard, Shane Dorian, and more.
Reef President Jeff Moore kicked off the night talking about the new campaign, and then called out a few retailers for making the trek.
Jeff and the Miss Reef girls first presented BC Surf and Sport’s Bruce Cromartie with a signed Mick Fanning surfboard for traveling the furthest distance to the event (he came from Florida). Then, Jeff invited Jurgen Schulz on stage and awarded him with a more humorous gift for traveling the shortest distance to the event — a Jack’s Surf Shop gift card.
The rest of the night featured the “Modern Gypsy” brand video as well as a brief Q and A with Reef athletes. After that, more sandals were used to crack open more bottles, and the night was topped by a performance by Xavier Rudd.
