Yesterday I stopped by the Volcom shareholder meeting, something I do every year, though this time around things were different in light of the news this week that French luxury company PPR is in the process of acquiring the company.
It was a smaller crowd in attendance, though top executives like President Jason Steris, EVP of Sales Tom Ruiz and several others were still there, as was CEO Richard Woolcott’s mom, Eloise, and Duke Edukas and Paul Burnett of Surfside.
The official part of the meeting was short – there was no review of strategy and plans. The company is careful about what it is saying publicly because of the pending acquisition.
Richard did thank those in attendance for supporting Volcom over the last six years as it became and then operated as a public company.
He also said Volcom is going to “Keep the spirit alive, keep charging and we’re excited for the future.”
