(Vancouver, British Columbia) June 27, 2011 –This past May ROXY partnered with west coast swimwear retailer, SWIMCO for an online and in store contest where customers were given the chance to submit a design for a ROXY bikini.
Customers were encouraged to use their creativity and beach inspiration to design a bikini that would embody the ROXY girl spirit.
Designers could pick up a bikini design template at any SWIMCO location or visit www.swimco.com/roxybikinidesigncontest/ to download an electronic copy. Customers were encouraged to use creative design programs or draw their inspiration by hand.
With close to 100 entries, the representatives at SWIMCO and ROXY enjoyed reviewing all the submissions and based their judging criteria on creativity and originality.
After a unanimous vote the winning designcame from Courtney Nicholson of Surrey, BC.
“I wanted the perfect design, and I had a lot of ideas,” explains Courtney, “I was searching around the internet, trying to form ideas, when I got inspired by a picture I saw. I put this design together because I wanted something colorful and beachy, but I also wanted it to be fun and smooth. I had such a great time designing this bikini for the Swimco and Roxy design contest! I love Roxy bikinis so when I saw the design contest I knew I had to enter. Roxy makes such beautiful bikinis and I am so honored to have my design chosen!”
“This was a wonderful program for us to be a part of, not only because of how much fun it was to see all of the entries, but because it’s important to encourage new, creative talent to enter the swimwear design industry” says Swimco President Lori Bacon. “When it comes to swimsuits, design is everything.”
Courtney will walk away with $1000 spending cash and one free Roxy bikini every month for a year (12 bikinis total) for her winning design.
