Press Release:
etnies’ Store is the First to Open in the City’s Project 1012 Creating a Red Carpet Entrance to Amsterdam
September 27, 2011 (AMSTERDAM) – Today etnies is proud to announce the opening of its new Amsterdam flagship store located in Damrak, which is the entrance to Amsterdam. etnies partnered with its key retailer, Eberhardt, to create this store which showcases the largest collection of etnies footwear and apparel in Europe.
Following the successful opening of the brand’s first European store in London earlier this year, this is etnies’ second retail store in Europe.
“The competition for this location was fierce, so we were proud to secure the location and partner with etnies to open a store in such a highly-demanded location,” said Dick Eberhardt, owner of the etnies Amsterdam store, Toms Skate Shop and The Old Man.
“The store’s location in Damrak has between 700,000 and 1,000,000 people pass by it each week, making it an ideal location for the etnies Amsterdam store.”
The etnies Amsterdam store is the first store in Amsterdam’s Project 1012 to open its doors. The City of Amsterdam’s Project 1012 is its initiative to clean up the world-famous Red Light District and create a red carpet entrance to the downtown Amsterdam Metropolitan Area.
“We are excited that retailers are experiencing a demand for etnies and this store in Amsterdam is about thinking differently about how we bring the retail experience to consumers,” said Pierre-Andre Senizergues, owner/CEO of Sole Technology.
“It’s important for etnies to continue to support authentic partners who back skateboarding and work with them to accelerate the demand.”
“We are glad that we have once again found an excellent retail partner that believes in the etnies brand to turn a prime retail location in Amsterdam into our second etnies flagship store,” said James Appleby, European sales and marketing director for Sole Technology.
“The energy from this will resonate across Europe for the etnies brand and fuel the brand’s retail expansion over the next few years.”
To celebrate the etnies Amsterdam store’s opening, and to keep the momentum going for the etnies Buy a Shoe, Plant a Tree project, etnies placed 100 small trees throughout several locations in Amsterdam. If you find one of these little trees and bring it back to the new etnies store, there is a nice etnies gift waiting for you.
