Hoby Darling to Nike

Roger Wyett, President of Nike Affiliates, confirmed for me this morning that Hoby Darling, formerly Vice President Strategic Development, General Counsel at Volcom, is headed to Nike.

Hoby was a key player in negotiating the deal between PPR and Volcom and voluntarily left Volcom after the acquisition closed to take some time off and assess what was next.

The news was first reported by the Wall Street Journal, which said Hoby will be involved in Nike’s affiliate group, which includes Hurley, Converse, Cole Haan and Umbro. He will head up strategy and planning.

Roger is very familiar with Volcom and the hub of Orange County-based action sports companies after having served for several years as CEO of Hurley at its headquarters in Costa Mesa.
