The former Global VP of Marketing and well-known industry figure has left headphone company Skullcandy.

Mike Carter, the former Vice President of Global Marketing at Skullcandy, has left the company, Mike told me today.

His last day was Friday.

Mike said he is very proud of what he and his team accomplished in his 2.5 years there. His goal when he joined was to help the brand get the recognition it deserved in the boardsports arena. He also helped establish Skullcandy’s presence on the West Coast.

“Every goal we hit,” he said.

He helped set up the office in San Clemente, and said he really valued the experience of going through the IPO.

I have a message into CEO Jeremy Andrus to get his comment on the news.

Mike said he remains a major shareholder in Skullcandy, whose corporate headquarters are in Park City, Utah, and is a big believer in the brand and the company.

Mike said he has the entrepreneurial bug, however, and is moving on to a new endeavor. He can’t yet say what that next thing is, but Shop-eat-surf will report the details when he is ready.

Before joining Skullcandy, Mike was a partner in the Electric Visual sunglass brand, which was bought by Volcom and is now owned by French company PPR.
