NEW WEBINAR INFORMATION – AN ISSUE OF HIGH IMPORTANCE!
If you are not in compliance with the new California law banning slavery and human trafficking, S657 that takes effect on Jan. 1, you could get sued by the California Attorney General and third parties.
Requirements of the law:
a) Put information on the home page of your website. The information on the home page must address how your company is combating human trafficking.
You may put a link on your homepage to a different section of your website where those details are located, but the initial link must be on your homepage. Companies that do not have websites must respond to requests for information within thirty (30) days of receipt of any request.
b) Have a compliance program to meet the specific requirements. Identify what your company is doing within its supply chain to “evaluate and address risks of human trafficking and slavery.”
Your suppliers must be asked to certify that they are compliant with company standards to combat human trafficking and slavery. Both domestic AND international suppliers must “certify” that they comply with their local laws.
You must also audit your suppliers and provide training to your own staff about mitigating the risks of slavery and human trafficking in your supply chains.
