Unique Competition Kicks Off Surfrider Foundation’s World Water Day Effort

San Clemente, CA (February 13, 2012) – In celebration next month’s World Water Day, the Surfrider Foundation, Teva and GoPro are teaming up to host what may be one of the most unique video challenge ever; The 3 Second Movie Contest.

Between now and March 13th, the Surfrider Foundation is challenging its supporters to create and share a three second water-themed movie. Entrants can then email their submissions to Surfrider Foundation at 3secMovie@surfrider.org for a chance to win one of three prize packages with gear from Teva and a GoPro camera. The winners will be announced on March 22nd, World Water Day.

“Water is the foundation for all life on the planet. Sadly, it only takes a few seconds to pollute water, spoiling it for everyone to use and enjoy,” says Matt McClain, Surfrider Foundation’s Director of Marketing and Communications.

“We created The 3 Second Movie Contest for World Water Day to celebrate clean water and also raise awareness about water quality issues and how they affect us all.”

Founded in 1993 by the United Nations, World Water Day is a global observance that highlights the need for care and management of our world’s water resources. The Surfrider Foundation celebrates World Water Day to help educate and drive awareness and support for its various clean water campaigns and programs.
