Rip Curl releases range of virtual products

International surf, snow and lifestyle brand Rip Curl, has made yet another move in the gaming industry, partnering with Canadian-based digital agency Disruptive Publishers to release a range of virtual products for the Xbox 360 Avatar Marketplace and Sony Playstation 3.

International surf, snow and lifestyle brand Rip Curl, has made yet another move in the gaming industry, partnering with Canadian-based digital agency Disruptive Publishers to release a range of virtual products for the Xbox 360 Avatar Marketplace and Sony Playstation 3.

 

The collection for Xbox features a variety of Rip Curl shirts, tees, jackets, pants, eyewear, hats, wetsuits and snowboards, and will grow larger throughout the year. The brand also released a trio of dynamic PS3 themes, showcasing some of its most recent photos and video of pro surfers Mick Fanning, Owen Wright and Alana Blanchard.

 

“This was a pretty cool project for us to work on and we’re looking forward to seeing if Rip Curl products are as popular in the gaming universe, as they are in retail stores around the world,” said Dane Sharp, Rip Curl Media & Digital Marketing Manager.

 

“Technology and innovation are two key values for the brand, and we’ve been playing in the gaming industry for some time – from event partnerships with Xbox and co-branded collaborations with Nintendo Gameboy to releasing our own iPhone game – ‘Rip Curl’s Live The Search Surfing Game’ – in late 2010. Both of these new opportunities are very unique and we’re excited about other possibilities from here.”

 

Disruptive Publishers has worked with a variety of brands to develop content for Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3, and was obviously excited to work with Rip Curl, considered around the world as the ultimate surfing company.
