TOP PRO SKATEBOARDERS HELPED BE THE
CHANGE FOR CINCO DE MAYO
Presented by etnies, SKATE FOR A CAUSE Helped Raise Money for A.skate’s Summer 2012 Tour for Children with Autism
May 7, 2012 (San Clemente, CA) – The Sheckler Foundation’s, SKATE FOR A CAUSE event met the foundation’s goal of raising $57,000 to fund A.skate’s entire 10-stop Be the Change tour this summer, to benefit children on the Autism Spectrum.
More than 30 top pro and am skateboarders with thousands of fans came out on Saturday, May 5, to raise money for the A.Skate charity. Between the fans, skateboarders and sponsors, SKATE FOR A CAUSE raised a grand total of $86,620.
The total prize purse for the five skateboarding contests was $15,000, and most of the winners donated their prize money to benefit charity. Watch a video that captures the skating that went down here: https://youtu.be/rj9HlprO7fQ.
Everyone from legendary pros like Sean Sheffey to up-and-coming AMs like Alex Midler skated in the Duracell SkaterCross. Daniel Vargas’ local knowledge of the course gave him an edge to win this contest, he’s been skating the etnies Skatepark since opening day and it showed.
