L*SPACE Swimwear Designer Monica Wise Launches NEW Luxury Swim Brand MAIO SWIM by Monica Wise

Designed for the Chic, Sophisticated, and Modern Woman

(Irvine, CA) – Monica Wise – veteran swimwear designer and Creative Director of popular contemporary swim collection L*SPACE Swimwear, announces the launch of her new luxury swimwear line: MAIO Swim by Monica Wise (pronounced “My-Oh”). The 27 piece collection consisting of only mid-kinis and one-pieces has been created to fill a void in a swim market that lacks modest, stylish swimwear with a sophisticated twist. MAIO Swim by Monica Wise will debut alongside Wise’s newly created apparel line – The Collection, and L*SPACE’s 2013 collection during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Miami and the Miami Swim Show in July.

LspaceWith an emphasis in modestly cut swim, the MAIO Swim by Monica Wise collection will include ultra-feminine cuts that pay homage to classic Esther Williams films of the 1950’s. Textured fabrics, corset tie backs, subtle hints of hardware, high-waisted briefs, molded underwire bra tops, and ruched detail will round out this new collection. Wise is also incorporating reversible styles and will use luxurious lining ensuring that each piece is as beautiful inside as it is out.

MAIO Swim by Monica Wise will target women, age 30-45, who have outgrown the skimpy, trendy cuts and prints of Wise’s successful swim line, L*SPACE, but isn’t ready for the typical full coverage “mom-ish” suit quite yet. With the use of classic tailoring, customized accents, and contrasting detail, MAIO Swim by Monica Wise will offer a range from complex to simplistic constructed swimwear to suit the demographic appropriately.

“The MAIO Swim by Monica Wise woman is an extension of the L*SPACE woman.” Wise explains. “She’s chic and feminine and looking for that same look, luxurious feel, and figure flattering style that L*SPACE is known for, but with a more sophisticated cut.”

With a lack of flattering yet modest swimwear in the market, Wise easily transitions her knack for creating gorgeous bikinis to a more modest customer. “I created MAIO Swim by Monica Wise because I was noticing that one pieces were either overly sexy with bold cut-outs and skimpy cuts, or matronly with tons of fabric and very unflattering lines.” Wise continues. “I wanted to create something that catered to the woman who’s in-between these two styles and that is what MAIO Swim by Monica Wise is all about.”

Wise will unveil MAIO Swim by Monica Wise to buyers at the Miami Swim Show and on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Miami, and will target specialty retailers around the world. Price points will range from $130-$200.

Press Release:

L*SPACE Swimwear Expands to Offer Ready-to-Wear for the Resort Season

(Irvine, CA) – L*SPACE Swimwear, known for delivering stylish silhouettes, luxurious fabrics and fashion-forward designs, announces the launch of their first apparel spin-off: The Collection by L*SPACE. The 22-piece apparel group will premiere with chic caftans, ponchos, flowing wide-leg pants, rompers, maxi skirts, and dresses fitting the resort wear mentality of easy-breezy style and versatility, with a heavy focus on pieces that can easily translate from day to night. The Collection by L*SPACE will hit store floors October 2012 just in time for the resort season, but will debut in an exclusive runway show during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Miami and at the Miami Swim Show in July.

LSpaceWith the tremendous growth and success of the L*SPACE swimwear line, and the demand for resort wear that can be worn in more ways than one, it seems only fitting that L*SPACE launch an apparel collection catering to fashion aficionados that look for style on and off the beach.

Founder and Creative Director, Monica Wise, who single handedly has designed the swimwear line for over a decade explains her reasoning behind the expansion. “Gone are the days of a sheer cover up that can only be worn one way. Women want versatility and functionality when spending money on resort wear and expanding into resort wear that is multifunctional seemed like a natural extension of the L*SPACE brand.”

With a palette of sophisticated neutrals and subtle pops of color, beadwork, embroidery, and L*SPACE’s signature fringe detail, The Collection by L*SPACE will aim to target the woman with a spirited personality. Newly hired apparel designer Oanh Doan blends her background from the main stream fashion world of Free People, and designing for a southern California lifestyle brand to create the new collection

“I took the L*SPACE girl and shook her up a bit. A little change is good.” Explains Doan. “My inspiration for The Collection by L*SPACE was the girl on vacation to the beaches of Spain. Her nickname there was ‘Gypsy Rose’ and The Collection was based off of what she would bring home and what she found on the beaches there.”

Doan is adamant about The Collection by L*SPACE maintaining a comfortable yet alluring aesthetic. “I want women to know that when they shop The Collection by L*SPACE, they will always look effortlessly chic as every style is specifically designed to wear alone, without the need for additional layering or accessories.”

L*SPACE will unveil The Collection by L*SPACE to buyers at the Miami Swim Show and on the runway during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week, Miami, and will target specialty retailers around the world. Price points will range from $90 up to $280 for specialty pieces.
