SHAPER STUDIOS OPENS NEW SURFBOARD SHAPING WORKSHOP AT
SUN DIEGO BOARDSHOPS IN MISSION BEACH
Retail Attraction is World’s First Public Surfboard Shaping Bay
SAN DIEGO, Calif. (July 23, 2012) – Shaper Studios, California’s first surfboard workshop, today announced the opening of a new location in San Diego.
Steps from the beach, Shaper Studio’s newest surfboard shaping workshop is conveniently located inside the Sun Diego shop at Wavehouse in Belmont Park in Mission Beach (3126 Mission Blvd. Suite A, San Diego, CA 92109).
Sun Diego customers and local beachgoers can now book a private lesson and design their own surfboard without having to leave the beach. This retail attraction is the world’s first surfboard shaping bay that is readily available to the public.
“We’re stoked to partner with our friends at Sun Diego Boardshops, who are allowing us to bring our unique art-based surf culture into a new community,” said Chris Clark, founder of Shaper Studios.
“Our expansion into Mission Beach is a natural extension of our flagship space, considering how close we now are to the beach and local surf community. We’re excited to spread our passion for shaping with as many people as possible and our newest workshop is allowing us to do just that.”
Private surfboard shaping lesson packages are available at Sun Diego Mission Beach and can be reserved online or in-store. Shaper Studios is fully committed to sustainable surf and exclusively carries Marko recyclable EPS foam blanks and only use epoxy resins, which are odorless and have zero VOCs.

Seasoned surfboard shapers can rent time in the shaping bay with full access to Shaper Studios’ tools and glassing equipment at the flagship location in Mission Valley. In addition, custom surfboard designs, including all artwork and glasswork, can be completed at the flagship workshop.
