DEL MAR, CA. – SEPTEMBER 13, 2012 — — The Boardroom International Surfboard Show offers active lifestyle Southern Californians plenty of options during the weekend of Oct 6 & 7 at Del Mar.
A surfboard demo morning, a paddle race and a longboard skate zone/competition highlight the active weekend and cultural juggernaut that is THE BOARDROOM.
Ride the boards! Hansen’s Surf Shop is hosting The Boardroom surfboard demo morning on Sunday October 7, 2012. This is a fine opportunity for surfers to try out the boards, the fins, the wetsuits and the gear on display at The Boardroom. The demo morning lasts from 7am – 11am and takes place at 15th St. / Powerhouse Park area in Del Mar.
A combination reef and beach break makes 15th st. and ideal demo zone for all types of boards to be ridden & tested. There will be plenty of Sambazon Acai on hand to quench the thirst. Use your wristband from The Boardroom International Surfboard Show as a ticket to ride.
Catch Baldy! Former pro surfer & Del Martian Jeff Baldwin is the culprit. You have to catch him! This fun frolic of a paddle race promises plenty of hijinks. Baldy will be setting up an intriguing course through the surf that will include a beach run and some unique obstacles. Whoever CATCHES BALDY wins!
Sounds easy…. The winner receives a SHUBU inflatable SUP courtesy of BOARDWORKS SURF. Any human powered craft is allowed in an attempt to… CATCH BALDY! CATCH BALDY is part of the HANSEN’s Surfboard Demo Morning on Sunday October 7th, race starts around 8am. Use your wristband from The Boardroom International Surfboard Show as a ticket to ride.
The Del Mar Shark Ranch longboard skate zone (across from ye olde Del Mar Skate Ranch) offers tarp surfing, plenty of longboard skates to try out and the infamous Shark Ramp. The good folks at Aura Skateboarding are hosting a skate competition with a $500 purse. The competition is open to the public. Space is limited.
The SURFAID Board Art Benefit LIVE Auction allows you to get into the bidding action on one-of-a-kind surfboards produced by legends in both the surfboard and art world. The auction benefits the SURFAID humanitarian mission in the Indonesian islands off of Sumatra. A great cause, great boards. Win Win! Saturday October 6th 3-5pm. Free admittance with your paid BOARDROOM ticket.
