Quik Retail SVP on new Quiksilver Women's store

A talk with Paul McAdam, Senior Vice President of Quiksilver Retail, about the new Quiksilver Women's store and if more are planned, an update on Quiksilver Waterman's, more.

Quiksilver has converted its Quiksilver Waterman’s store at Fashion Island in Newport Beach into a Quiksilver Women’s store.

The Waterman’s store opened in August, 2011. It was previously a Quiksilver Kids store run by a licensee.

I followed up and asked Paul McAdam, Senior Vice President & General Manager of Quiksilver Retail, about the change.

Is it an additional store or is it replacing Quiksilver Waterman’s?

It is replacing Waterman’s but only in this location as we believe our women’s concept is better suited to this center as the end consumer is predominantly female.

Did the Waterman’s store not work out?

The Waterman’s collection is seeing double-digit growth across the board. We are expanding it into 22 additional Quiksilver company retail doors for spring. It is still represented in Fashion Island at wholesale accounts, but again, we felt this location was better suited for our Quiksilver Women’s collections.

How is Quiksilver Women’s first store in Malibu doing?

It has been delivering to plan thus far and we are pleased with the initial results.

Any other Quiksilver Women’s stores planned?

Yes, we will look to open an additional four stores in Fiscal Year 2013.

Where will those new store be located?

The new locations for the four stores are to be determined and I am looking for suitable locations currently, but all in coastal beach locations where there are established, appropriate retail centers.
