Press Release:
Quiksilver Women’s Expands Retail Presence to Newport Beach
Iconic brand shows its moderncoastal classic side with the debut
of its second store at Fashion Island
Newport Beach, Calif. (September 26, 2012) – Quiksilver Women’s opens the doors to its second stand-alone retail store, this time at Fashion Island in Newport Beach. The 700 square foot retail space, located within the upscale Orange County outdoor mall, will give patrons a well-curated glimpse into the brand’s coastal heritage.
Just as in its Malibu flagship store, the Quiksilver Women’s Fashion Island location will feature an assortment of Quiksilver Women’s clothing, as well as a variety of carefully considered product from outsidevendors and craftsmen, such as Ray-Ban sunglasses, Will Leather Goods and 31 Bits jewelry. The design of the Newport Beach retail space takes inspiration from its local surroundings and will feature custom-curated imagery of iconic Newport Beach locations as captured by photographer Andrew Paynter.
On the heels of the successful launch of the first Quiksilver Women’s store in Malibu, the expansion to Newport Beach was a natural next step for the well-rooted, fast-growing women’s brand. “We felt that Fashion Island was a natural choice for our second Quiksilver Women’s store, given the high density of female consumers that would understand and relate to our new women’s concept,” said Paul McAdam, Senior Vice President & General Manager, Quiksilver Retail. “Our results so far have been above expectations in the new store, and we are excited to continue developing this concept in similar shoppingenvironments throughout the US.”
“Quiksilver Women’s effortless, classic coastal style and aesthetic are a perfect fit in the quintessential seaside setting of Newport Beach,” said Kenna Florie, Quiksilver Women’s Vice President of Marketing and Sales. “The Quiksilver Women’s collection will be an excellent addition to the existing product offering at Fashion Island.”
A special collection of Quiksilver product, unique to Newport Beach, will be available at the store with a percentage of the proceeds benefitting the Newport Bay Conservancy (NBC), the single organization focused exclusively on the conservation and restoration of Upper Newport Bay – one of the most precious natural resources in Southern California. The NBC’s mission is to inspire the communities of the central Orange County watershed to work together to enhance the natural beauty and ecological value of this land.
To celebrate its opening, the store will hold a “Sip + Stitch” event on Saturday, October 6, from 11am – 3pm, where customers can enjoy complimentary custom monogramming on sweaters, denim and totes, as well as refreshments and a vintage postcard-style photo booth.
