WWD: Nordstrom headed to Canada

A news report says Nordstrom may be joining the list of U.S. retailers looking north for growth.

Editor’s note: In a subsequent interview with WWD, Nordstrom said it sees up to nine full-line stores and 15 Rack locations for Canada.

 

Nordstrom is expanding to Canada, according to a story in WWD today.

 

The retailer will take over three Sears sites in Vancouver Pacific Centre, Deerfoot Mall in Calgary and Rideau Centre in Ottawa in 2015 and 2016.

 

WWD said Nordstrom is poised to make an announcement on Thursday about its Canada plans in conjunction with a Canadian development company.

 

Nordstrom will be joining several other U.S. retailers who are looking north for growth, including Zumiez, Journeys and Target.
